Mr Fish on the Freedom Flotilla Massacre

It is significant that Jordanian Prince El Hassan bin Talal, sovereign of a country that has a peace treaty with the hafrada regime, opined in an Al Jazeera op-ed: “perhaps Israel is seeking total isolation to justify continued violence leading to further pre-emptive strikes and a regional war.

Also catch some of the Guardian coverage circulated by the FGM’s Greta Berlin. The first piece of the 3 listed below features testimony from activists on the lead ship the Mavi Marmara, where most of the massacre took place,  that explicitly contradicts the absurd israeli claims. This is stark contrast with hasbaranik Seth Freedman in the Guardian, about whose piece Norman Finkelstein writes:  ‘Now let’s all sing together, “If he only had a brain.”’ Also check out Jonathan Cook’s indispensible reporting, particularly this piece where israeli Arab MK Haneen Zoubi on the lead ship recounts what happened and that there was no provocation from the passengers.

Finally, don’t miss Pepe Escobar’s scathing skepticism in ‘We’re All Gazans Now.

A chillingly excellent depiction of the Israeli capacity for evil.

Timely Reminders

"Those who crusade, not for God in themselves, but against the devil in others, never succeed in making the world better, but leave it either as it was, or sometimes perceptibly worse than what it was, before the crusade began. By thinking primarily of evil we tend, however excellent our intentions, to create occasions for evil to manifest itself."
-- Aldous Huxley

"The only war that matters is the war against the imagination. All others are subsumed by it."
-- Diane DiPrima, "Rant", from Pieces of a Song.

"It is difficult
to get the news from poems
yet men die miserably every day
for lack
of what is found there"
-- William Carlos Williams, "Asphodel, That Greeny Flower"
