Hi Jack (aka Walter Mitty ;) )

First, very interesting things you’ve nominated there!

OK, here’s mine (with apologies for any replication elsewhere)

FIVE THINGS YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME:
    1. I do not drive — by choice
    2. A childhood ambition was (and still is) to be able to engage in space travel
    3. I love Star Trek (my favourite American export!) especially The Next Generation and Voyager series
    4. I’m an insomniac
    5. I harbour a belief in past lives and think I lived in pre-revolutionary/ Tsarist Russia, amongst other places.

    Hi Ann!

Do you mind if I post this response at our blog?

I LOVE space. We have a radio program over here called “Hearts of Space” (www.hos.com) that is the closest to space travel I’ll get until the Lord comes to take me! :)

Love Star Trek! Did you ever get a chance to watch Babylon 5? You would find the diplomatic issues brought up regularly intriquing.

Go right ahead, I’d be honoured.

That’s great we share a love of space and Star Trek. Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll definitely check Babylon 5 out. We had it here a few years ago on public TV for the briefest of periods.

Timely Reminders

"Those who crusade, not for God in themselves, but against the devil in others, never succeed in making the world better, but leave it either as it was, or sometimes perceptibly worse than what it was, before the crusade began. By thinking primarily of evil we tend, however excellent our intentions, to create occasions for evil to manifest itself."
-- Aldous Huxley

"The only war that matters is the war against the imagination. All others are subsumed by it."
-- Diane DiPrima, "Rant", from Pieces of a Song.

"It is difficult
to get the news from poems
yet men die miserably every day
for lack
of what is found there"
-- William Carlos Williams, "Asphodel, That Greeny Flower"
