Shortage of anti-semites

Also see the priceless Reuters article ‘Don’t mention the war: Israel seeks image makeover’ — Wake Up From Your Slumber’s review at Shhh! don’t mention WAR – israel seeks ‘makeover’ says it all.

Ressentiment writes:

There’s a looming shortage of anti-Semites. Soon there won’t be enough new anti-Semites to keep Israel supplied with justifications for kicking Palestine’s ass every day.

Experts estimate that Israel will reach Peak anti-Semite in 2007. After that the price of anti-Semites will sky rocket as increasing demand searches for fewer and fewer anti-Semites.

If Israel cannot find enough anti-Semites, it will have to find a way to synthesize them since Israel cannot justify its existence without a constant supply of new anti-Semites.

Scientists continue to search for a method of making anti-Semites out of ordinary citizens, but so far they just turn into mush under the hot lights in the television studio where Israel needs to put them on display. When asked the difference between Israel and Jews, most ordinary citizens remain unsuitable for synthetic processes because they the know the difference.

Without a constant supply of anti-Semites to feed the Hasbara PR machine, Israel will be forced to discuss the Palestinian issue – and admit it just wants Palestinian land.

Thanks for visiting Ressentiment and helping me find your wonderful blog, Ann.

I am not a prolific blogger by any means, but I do put a lot of effort into the diaries I do manage to post. Your readers may be interested to know that I typed up a complete transcript of Robert Fisk’s Vancouver book talk on Conquest of the Middle East which condenses a 4-part video posted at YouTube into Internet quotable yumminess. Meaty chunks like this one ought to make it into the search engines and the wayback machine and, somehow, into the minds of “The West.” There are gobs and gobs of these quotes that could be well used in our world. If you peck around a bit in the search, you’ll also find full length transcripts of Mearsheimer and Walt on American C-Span’s Washington Journal Program as well as Abraham Foxman’s “response.” The Foxman segment is hillarious just to read what some call-in guests have to say about Israel’s PR war.

Terror, terror, terror, terror. That word terrorism is a word that has become a plague on our vocabulary. The excuse and reason and moral purpose for

    [interrupted by applause]

for state sponsored violence. Our violence. Which is now used on the innocent of the Middle East even more outrageously and promiscuously.

Terrorism, terrorism, terrorism. Terrorism has become a full stop. A punctuation mark. A phrase. A speech. A sermon. The be all and end all of everything that we must hate in order to ignore injustice and occupation and killing on a large scale.

Terror, terror, terror, terror, terror, terror, terror. It is a sonata, a symphony, an orchestra tuned to every television and radio station and news agency report. The soap opera of the devil. Served up on prime time or distilled in wearyingly dull and mendacious form by right wing commentators of the American East Coast. And I’m sorry to say by many of my American colleagues. And many of my Canadian colleagues as well.

Thanks for the comment Dean, great to read from you. It is often no mean feat transcribing a talk so what a valuable resource you have made available in your excellent weblog over at blogspot. I was happily stationed there for a good while too, before coming over here to try out wordpress. I really enjoy reading the entries, especially (but by no means limited to) the posts that are so satirically funny as the one above.

Appreciate the excerpt from Fisk, I recognise his words having been to a couple of his talks on his global lecture circuit. Definitely a worthwhile listen. I only wish I had time to indulge dipping into his recent mammoth The Great War for Civilisation but a solid 90 minute talk is often a good substitute in the interim ;)

Timely Reminders

"Those who crusade, not for God in themselves, but against the devil in others, never succeed in making the world better, but leave it either as it was, or sometimes perceptibly worse than what it was, before the crusade began. By thinking primarily of evil we tend, however excellent our intentions, to create occasions for evil to manifest itself."
-- Aldous Huxley
