Latuff again says it all

From Anis Hamadeh, ‘Likud Party Discovers Brazilian Artist Latuff

From an article in the Independent:

The Palestinian West Bank is being chopped up by Israeli checkpoints and barriers. A high wall seals off Jerusalem from the West Bank. There are 550 permanent roadblocks and 125 makeshift roadblocks. The ‘two state solution’ … can no longer be implemented. Even with the right passes, entering Jerusalem from the West Bank is a laborious process of queuing with the possibility in the Palestinian case that they may well be turned away. Every Palestinian has stories of men who were not allowed to enter Jerusalem to take their wife to hospital. “Above all there is a sense of hopelessness,” said Mustafa, a Palestinian shopkeeper.

Timely Reminders

"Those who crusade, not for God in themselves, but against the devil in others, never succeed in making the world better, but leave it either as it was, or sometimes perceptibly worse than what it was, before the crusade began. By thinking primarily of evil we tend, however excellent our intentions, to create occasions for evil to manifest itself."
-- Aldous Huxley

"The only war that matters is the war against the imagination. All others are subsumed by it."
-- Diane DiPrima, "Rant", from Pieces of a Song.

"It is difficult
to get the news from poems
yet men die miserably every day
for lack
of what is found there"
-- William Carlos Williams, "Asphodel, That Greeny Flower"
