Freedom Flotilla Attack: Israeli Commandos Massacre Activists

** Please refer to PULSE, my web bookmarks or Twitter feed for updates. While at least nine are confirmed dead, a number of others are still unaccounted for.

THE FREEDOM FLOTILLA HAS BEEN ATTACKED BY ISRAELI MILITARY FORCES. Al Jazeera reports 16 killed. Turkish TV are reporting at least 16 dead and over 60 injured.

The Israeli Army Radio said soldiers opened fire “after confronting those on board carrying sharp objects”.

Free Gaza Movement, the organisers of the flotilla, however, said the troops opened fire as soon as they stormed the ships.

It is significant that Jordanian Prince El Hassan bin Talal, sovereign of a country that has a peace treaty with the hafrada regime, opined in an Al Jazeera op-ed: “perhaps Israel is seeking total isolation to justify continued violence leading to further pre-emptive strikes and a regional war.

Under the banner of the Freedom Flotilla, the protest is a $US3 million-plus ($3.6 million) operation. Apart from 10,000 tonnes of building, medical, educational and other supplies, on board are dozens of parliamentarians from around the world and professionals planning to offer their services in Gaza.
