The big difference between the South African Boycott campaign and the one directed at Israel is that the South African one was directly called by the ANC.

The Palestinian one has not been called , for a wide variety of reasons of which the Oslo Accords are the prime veto, by the PLO and especially Fatah.

The accords not only signed away the right of return and committed fatah to a 2 state solution in which Israel sets the terms and conditions at a time and place that is convenient to it , but also committed organised political structures like the Official fatah run Palestine trade unions to be a joint entity with Histradut. This means that the PLO is terminably married to Israeli goodwill.Which will forever be in short supply.

Palestinian Civil Society are unaminmously behind it as Barghouti points out and our job is to see that it gets a Solidarity Pro-Active response.

But Barghouti does have to challenge and smoke out an Official "yea or nay" position to a formal Boycott from Fatah/PLO so that Palesinian Civil Society as well as their backers in the rest of the World clearly know if the PLO/Fatah is with them or against them. And thereafter take appropriate long term measures. To me the question is rhetorical in that the Oslo Accords , amongst other things, signed away the right to Boycott Israel at a later date.

So far the only Boycott Fatah/PLO have committed themselves to is a boycott of reunifications talks with The Official Democratically elected representatives of the Palestinian Civil Society in Cairo , on the instructions and wishes of the architects of the Seige and wanton destruction of the People of Gaza..
