Hey Marty,

In a typical taser deployment, there are plenty of officers present. In Montreal the average is SIX.

'Risk of injury' being traded-off against 'risk of death'? There are numbers to suggest that the risk of death from a chest hit from the X26 might be not insignificant. I'd suggest that we go with the risk of injury. That's why we have trained officers in peak physical condition. If they're going to be come taser button-pressers, then replace them with minimum wage security thugs. Why pay them for their old role of protecting the public when some (not all, not even most) are becoming a threat to the public?

Average citizens? Utah speeder (a perfectly average citizen by any description, the cop was a pig in that case) got a cheque for $40k for his unwarrented tasering. So your statement is demonstrably false. Please follow the news a bit closer.

I'm not going to argue with you. Not enough time. See www.Excited-Delirium.com for your Taser brainwashing cure.

It is a sad thing when someone dies no matter how they die. But, Tasers are actually saving lives and people from worse injury. It takes one taser to take down a law breaker but it takes 4 to 5 officers to secure a law breaker by hand. At which time all are at risk of injury. It is better to use a taser than to use a gun to which death is more likely to occur. We need to stop being bleeding hearts and be realist. The police are not using tasers on average citizens walking down the street. They are using them on person who are committing a crime. I personally would love to see every police officer in United States assigned a taser. Also, police must first be tased to be qualified to carry a taser. So it is not like they don't know what it feels like.
